Patt Young was appointed to the Contra Costa Water District’s Board of Directors in June 2022. She represents Division 1, which includes the cities and communities of Bay Point and Clyde as well as portions of Concord, Pacheco and Pittsburg.
Ms. Young has an extensive background in public health with a focus on education and outreach within under-resourced communities. Her career has many highlights including program manager at Brighter Beginning’s Black Infant Health (BIH), Health Education Instructor at Kaiser Permanente, and several Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) positions for State and County health services. She has used her experience to develop protocols and techniques for conducting Maternal interviews along, with developing a model for case management for bereaved mothers.
She is an active member of the community working in leadership roles on the First Baptist Head Start Board of Directors, City of Pittsburg Community Advisory Commission, Black Infant Health Board Chair, Grandma’s Teas for Seniors, and the Los Medanos Community Healthcare District Board of Directors.
A resident of Pittsburg, she enjoys hiking and spending quiet time in nature, supporting the conservation of open spaces, traveling, and visiting California lighthouses. She started a book club to explore African American female authors and is a member of The Writers Journey writer’s group in Pittsburg. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Mills College.
