On July 24, the California Water Commission announced that $459 million of Proposition 1 funding will be slated for expanding Los Vaqueros Reservoir in eastern Contra Costa County near Brentwood.
Sen. Feinstein, Sen. Harris and Rep. DeSaulnier introduced legislation to transfer federal ownership of the Contra Costa Canal System to Contra Costa Water District, taking an important step toward modernizing the aging water supply aqueduct.
With $2.7 billion available in state funding available for water storage projects, CCWD is working with partners to secure over $400 million to pay for public benefits of expanding the Los Vaqueros Reservoir.
After leaning on Los Vaqueros Reservoir for supply during the drought, the Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) is pleased to announce that the reservoir is now holding more water than it ever has for its customers.
The Contra Costa Water District recently completed its every three-year testing for lead and copper as required by federal regulations. Consistent with previous years, all results came back well below regulations.
CCWD announced it has signed a settlement agreement with the California Department of Water Resources that will protect District customers, facilities, and operations if the Bay Delta Conservation Plan/California WaterFix, aka the “twin tunnels”, is built.
