After two years of virtual water education, last school year marked the full return of Contra Costa Water District’s award-winning education programs to the classroom. Nearly 30,000 students throughout central and eastern Contra Costa County toured our water treatment plants, learned water science at the Los Vaqueros Watershed, rode aboard a research vessel in the Delta, or participated in a classroom presentation or assembly.
Our education programs are designed to increase awareness about the value of water while also supplementing the lessons children are learning in the classroom. During the last school year, we expanded our reach into high school classrooms to showcase the many career opportunities available in the water industry.
