Fishing Program for Kids with Special Needs
CCWD partners with C.A.S.T. for Kids to host an annual fishing day at Los Vaqueros in October. We pair local fishing experts with kids and teens with special needs (ages 6--18) and their caretakers, where they are shown proper fishing techniques and receive a natural resources education. The fishing excursion is followed up by a BBQ lunch and an awards ceremony. The Los Vaqueros Marina proves the perfect backdrop for a rewarding day of shore and boat fishing. We also have large pontoon boats that can accommodate wheelchairs. heading
About C.A.S.T. for Kids
The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation enriches the lives of children with special needs, supports their families, and strengthens communities through the sport of fishing. The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation (C.A.S.T. = Catch A Special Thrill) is a public charity that was formed in 1991 to join volunteers who love to fish with children who have special needs and disadvantages for a day of fishing in the outdoors.
