This is a reminder from the Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) to our customers to always be alert and watch out for impostors presenting themselves as water district employees.
It is rare for a CCWD employee to need to enter a residence without making a prior appointment. Occasionally, CCWD water quality employees do need access to a home. In those cases, they are responding to a request initiated by the customer, and they will never ask for a social security number or other personal information.
How to Stay Safe
If a CCWD employee is at your doorstep and requests to come inside your home, ask to see their work identification through a window or the door's eyehole and ask what is the purpose of their visit. Employees in the field always carry identification with their name, photo and CCWD logo. Also, CCWD employees will always be driving a vehicle with a CCWD logo on the side.
Call CCWD 24-hours a day at 925-688-8095 to confirm the identity of the person at your door. If you feel you are in danger, call 911.
