CCWD Starts Annual Cleaning of Canal
From December 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009, the Contra Costa Water District will conduct its annual cleaning and maintenance of the Contra Costa Canal. The canal will be back in service by April 1, 2009.
This project will begin at the Naval Weapons Station and proceed along the Canal Loop through Clyde, Concord, Walnut Creek (including the Ygnacio Loop), Pleasant Hill and Martinez.
The District is scheduling this annual project during the winter months when it causes less impact to our customers and the environment.
During this time, the canal will be dry. At times, sections of the Contra Costa Canal Trail will be closed to ensure public safety while heavy equipment is in use.
We apologize for any inconvenience this project may cause. If you have questions, please call Gina Oltman at 688-8010. For after-hour emergency calls, call 688-8374.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
