Fire Danger Forecast
During the summer and fall months, the Los Vaqueros Watershed staff makes a daily forecast of the fire conditions at the 20,000-acre watershed.
At low and moderate levels, there are no restrictions to visitors to the watershed, but visitors to the watershed should take precautions to avoid situations that could result in a fire.
Below are the restrictions at the watershed for the higher levels:
FIRE DANGER = HIGH
The Watershed remains open to public recreation.
For contractors, no cutting/grinding/welding without permission from watershed staff which is based upon site-specific circumstances.
FIRE DANGER = VERY HIGH
The Watershed is open to public recreation, though some recreational facilities and trails may be closed.
All fire sources are prohibited, including the use of permanent barbecue facilities at picnic areas.
All construction or operational activities off pavement without permission from Watershed staff is prohibited.
FIRE DANGER = EXTREME -- RED FLAG
All Watershed trails are closed to all uses (except fire prevention patrols and law enforcement.)
All fire sources remain prohibited, including barbecue facilities at picnic areas.
All construction activities off pavement remain prohibited.
NORTH RESERVOIR AREA:
The Interpretive Center is open on Fridays, weekends, and most holidays. Use caution and avoid hazards. Even the trail to the dam may be closed.
SOUTH RESERVOIR AREA:
Shoreline access is allowed to the reservoir only between Los Vaqueros Road and the Los Vaqueros Staging Area.
All other fishing areas closed.
