Construction Closures
on South Side of Los Vaqueros Watershed

The Contra Costa Water District is enlarging the Los Vaqueros Reservoir by 60 percent to hold 160,000
acre-feet of water. This will ensure water quality and supply reliability for the 500,000 people served
by the reservoir.

The project includes moving the Los Vaqueros Marina and other recreational facilities
to higher ground. To ensure public safety, the entire north side of the watershed near Brentwood has been closed since March and closures
on the south side near Livermore are necessary.

by the reservoir. The project includes moving the Los Vaqueros Marina and other recreational facilities
to higher ground. To ensure public safety, the entire north side of the watershed is closed and closures
on the south side are necessary.

Closure of Some South Watershed Facilities:
Facilities located north of the Los Vaqueros Marina have been fenced off and will be
closed to the public as of August 17, 2011. This includes trails, shoreline, piers and parking
areas located north of the Marina. The Marina and facilities south of the Marina will remain
open to the public for fishing access until further notice.

More Extensive Closures Planned for Fall 2011:
Most of the recreational facilities in the South Watershed, including the Marina and much of
the shoreline, are expected to close for several months starting as early as October 2011.
More information will be provided as this closure nears.

During these closures, the Miwok Trail that connects Round Valley Regional Park to Morgan Territory
Regional Preserve will remain open. The District regrets any inconvenience these closures may cause
and appreciates your cooperation with its efforts to ensure public safety.
