Unprecedented Fishing Day at Los Vaqueros!
Two records broken by massive margins

Record Fish

It was an unprecedented fishing Friday, April 17, at Los Vaqueros, as the oldest record at the reservoir -- for trout -- finally fell and a giant 45 pound striper became the largest fish ever caught by a significant margin.

The two records were brought in about an hour apart.

Todd Brusco of Danville became the first person ever to hold two simultaneous fishing records at LV when he caught a 45.2 pound striper.

That's the largest fish at the reservoir by 16.53 pounds, and the largest striper ever caught by more than 20 pounds. It also breaks CCWD employee John Howard's striper record.

Todd was trolling as he was coming back to the Marina (after catching a limit of trout) in the electric rental boat when the monster bit on his Rapalla lure. It took him 90 minutes to land the fish. He was fishing with 12-pound line.

Todd also owns the largemouth bass record with a 12 pounder caught last year.

The oldest record at LV -- for trout -- was shattered when Cliff Myers of Santa Clara was trolling in Howden Cove and landed a 13.14 pound trout, breaking the record by 2.58 pounds

He also won a $50 reward for the fish, since that was the oldest record at the reservoir.
