Updates on Los Vaqueros
Reservoir Expansion Construction

Updated January 31
See Our New December Project Video

The capacity of Los Vaqueros Reservoir is being expanded from its current 100,000 acre-feet to 160,000.

The dam reached its new height -- elevation 521 feet -- on Dec. 8, 2011, one year after the construction contract was approved by the CCWD Board of Directors. The dam is now 34-feet higher than when it was originally completed in 1998.

Activity is now centered on completing the new spillway, inlet/outlet structure, and finishing the thousands details of such a massive project.

The North side of the Los Vaqueros Watershed near Brentwood is closed for expansion, the South side near Livermore has reopened for limited shoreline fishing, and some trails are open.

For updates, photo gallery, web cam and more information on the expansion project, please look here.
