The
Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) is located in the scenic San Francisco
East Bay Area, near the base of Mt. Diablo.
CCWD
is headquartered in the City of Concord, but the Water District has facilities
throughout its 135,964-acre service area. In addition, the Water District
manages the 20,000-acre Los Vaqueros Watershed and Reservoir in the Inner
Coast Range.
Contra
Costa County, one of the original 27 counties in the state, is bordered
by the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to the north and anchored by Mt. Diablo
State Park. The area is contrasted by urban and rural settings, diverse
shopping and a network of trails connecting neighborhoods, parks and historic
points of interest.
Its
not difficult to start the day fishing in the Delta, and then breaking
for lunch at a fine local restaurant. In the afternoon, its a nice
workout to hike on the picturesque Mt. Diablo Trail and then finish the
evening watching the nearby Oakland As play major league baseball.
Contra
Costa County is close to the world-class attractions of San Francisco
and the Golden Gate, but without the cramped congestion of a big city.
Bay Area Rapid Transit offers quick and convenient access to all the amenities
of the San Francisco Bay Area.
The
weather here is moderate, and unlike San Francisco, its warm in
the summer.
Housing
prices are generally less than most portions of the San Francisco Bay
Area, with excellent primary and secondary schools and easy access to
some of the finest universities in the world.
