To give everyone a fair chance, CCWD will NOT accept requests prior to 7:30 a.m. on May 3rd. Signup forms can be downloaded below. Print off, fill out, and fax in (925) 688-8122). Note that there are separate forms for each type of program (i.e. watershed field trip, treatment plant tour, classroom presentation)  Due to Water District operations, there are some significant changes in the Education Program this year please read details below.

Water Education Program Changes 2010-2011:

Note: As of May 4, the Los Vaqueros Field Trip is fully booked for the 2010-11 school year

Los Vaqueros Watershed Field Trip (3rd grade and up): You may have heard the Water District will be enlarging the Los Vaqueros Reservoir. This will entail raising the dam near the Interpretive Center. During construction there will be no access to the entire north side of the watershed. This includes the Interpretive Center. As a result there will be NO watershed field trips during construction. Construction is scheduled to start sometime early 2011, the date is not yet set. It will take around nine months to complete. In order to do as many watershed programs as possible, we will be conducting programs five days/week through mid-December. Starting May 3d we will be accepting requests for September 7 through December 10 only.

By fall we will know exactly when construction will start and if there will be time to do additional programs in the January/February timeframe. If we can do programs early next year, we will fill those slots in the fall from the waitlist and/or new requests. Size limits on the watershed programs remain the same (40 students/program) - so if you have 30 students in a class you will need to reserve a program for each class. (link to watershed signup form)

Water Treatment Plant Tours (5th grade and up): Since we will be concentrating on the Watershed visits in the fall, we will not conduct treatment plant tours of Bollman (Concord) or Randall Bold (Oakley) Water Treatment Plants until after winter break, at which time the tours can be conducted any day of the week. Starting May 3rd we will be accepting treatment plant tour requests for January 10 –May 27, 2011. To maximize available resources, schools are encouraged to schedule two classes per day using the same bus to shuttle the classes. 

NOTE: Pittsburg schools can now tour the Pittsburg Water Treatment Plant. You will still request the tour through CCWD and we will help set it up with Pittsburg WTP. These tours can be scheduled throughout the year. CCWD will still reimburse for the bus. (link to treatment plant signup form)

Classroom Presentations (2nd grade and up): Classroom presentations can be scheduled throughout the school year. However the majority of the classroom presentations will probably need to be conducted after winter break. If you are scheduling a Watershed field trip, and want your classroom presentation prior to the field trip, we will try to schedule it, however remember the presentations stand on their own and can easily be conducted following the field trip.
