Effective March 15, 2010, a vacancy opened on the Board of Directors of the Contra Costa Water District due to the resignation of Division 1 Director Elizabeth R. Anello. 

On March 17, 2010, the Board decided that it will appoint a successor, and confirmed that Friday, April 9, 2010 was the deadline for applications. 

Applications have been reviewed and candidates have been selected to present their qualifications and be interviewed on Wednesday, April 21. 

The Board intends to appoint the new Director at the same meeting.  The appointed Division 1 Director will have to stand for election on the November 2, 2010 general election.   The appointed new director will hold office until the result of that election is certified.
 
Division 1 includes the District's service area in Port Costa, Pacheco, Clyde, Bay Point, and portions of Concord, Martinez, Pleasant Hill, and Pittsburg.

The portions of Concord are located north of Concord Avenue, Willow Pass Road, Highway 4, and west of Olivera Road.  The portions of Martinez are North of Alhambra Valley Road, east of Alhambra Avenue, and west of High Street.  The area in Pleasant Hill covers a small portion east of Pacheco Blvd and Contra Costa Blvd, and north of Concord Avenue. The portions of Pittsburg are north of Highway 4, West Leland Road, and west of Parkview Drive.
