CCWD Begins Annual Mowing of
Contra Costa Canal Right of Way
Work Will Continue Through July
With the start of spring, CCWD has begun its annual mowing of the Contra Costa Canal Right of Way in 2008.
The canal right of way is more than 50 miles long and meanders from Oakley to Martinez. Mowing will continue at different locations along the entire length though early July when fire season begins.
In most cases, the mowing will be done with large mowers, and then hand weed abatement crews will follow and clean up along property and fence line. In some areas, the soil will be disked.
