Attention Contractors!
CCWD is inviting contractors to bid on AIP contracts.
The Contra Costa Water District is inviting contractors to bid on its Alternative Intake Project.
The project includes three major contracts as outlined below:
• GRADING CONTRACT: The Victoria Canal Setback Levee & Sitework contract includes the construction of a new setback levee and embankment, approximately 20-feet high for the new Victoria Canal Intake and Pump Station. In addition, the work includes the construction of an approximately one-mile access road from Highway 4 across Victoria Island to the work site. Dewatering will be required and development of an on-site borrow area. Independent Construction Company was awarded the contract in February, 2008 and is currently completing the contract work.
• INTAKE & PUMP STATION CONTRACT: The Victoria Canal Intake and Pump Station contract will include a new 250 cfs intake and pump station, complete with removable fish screens and cleaning mechanism. In addition, the work will include construction of a 69 kV electrical substation, a motor-control center, a 66-inch diameter pipeline approximately 500-feet in length and a pipeline surge protection facility. Various flow monitoring and control appurtenances, site safety and lighting facilities are also part of the work. Pile driving and dewatering will be necessary.
Proven Management, Inc. is the apparent low bidder, and the CCWD Board of Directors is expected to review this contract for authorization at its Wednesday, June 4 meeting.
A non-mandatory pre-advertisement contractor's briefing meeting was held on March 26. See the sign-in sheet here.
• CONVEYANCE PIPELINE & MICROTUNNEL CONTRACT: The Victoria Canal Pipeline Conveyance contract will include construction of a 72-inch diameter pipeline, approximately 12,150 linear feet in length, across Victoria Island, from the tie-in point to the new site pipeline at the Victoria Intake Canal Intake and Pump Station. The pipeline contract will include a micro-tunneling portion under Old River with a 96 inch casing. The work will also include pipeline appurtenances, cathodic protection and significant dewatering. The contract was advertised on May 29 , 2008 with a cost of over $25 million.
Prebid jobwalks will be conducted for the Conveyance Pipeline and Microtunnel contract at the site at 10 a.m. on June 10 and June 17. Bidders are encouraged to attend both non-mandatory job walks; however, only the meeting of June 17 will have trenched potholes conducted for subsurface examination.
A non-mandatory pre-advertisement contractor's briefing was held on Wednesday, May 14. See the sign-in sheet here.
Note to prospective bidders: All contractors and subcontractors on the AIP contracts will be required to sign a Project Labor Agreement. No exceptions will be permitted.
The location of the project site is the southern portion of Victoria Island in San Joaquin County, on the Victoria Canal levee, approximately one mile east of the Contra Costa County line.
