 10k runners head up a hill -- one of many steep hills -- on the Tarantula Run in 2009. Tarantula Run Returns!!!! Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 Same low prices as in the past, you can signup now on Active.com we expect to have mail-in entries available soon After a year off due to the expansion of Los Vaqueros Reservoir, the Los Vaqueros Tarantula Run Returns in 2012! The 5k, 10k, half-marathon and free kids' 1k fun run is set to for Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at its regular start/finish line at the Kellogg Creek Picnic Area in the Los Vaqueros watershed. These are all trail runs, and with the exception of the 1K fun run, all courses have lots of hills. The course for the 5K will be the same as in the past, but the 10K and half-marathon courses will be different due to the higher dam and new trails cut through the watershed. The 1K course will be unchanged. Because of the construction, and nearby golden eagle nesting, we haven't set up the 10K and half-marathon courses yet, but we'll get them designed soon. The North Entrance to the watershed (where the course is located) is closed now, but will reopen to the public in July. We expect to have the courses marked by July. We will have the same race timers as in the past, On Your Mark Events, and you can signup online now with Active.com (there will be a service charge). You'll be able to park near the course again, so there will be no buses needed to get to the start/finish line this year. Signup for the LV E-mail newsletter for more information.
