Kids Have Fun at C.A.S.T Day at LV

Near-perfect clear and warm weather greeted families and volunteer anglers at the District's Catch A Special Thrill Day Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at Los Vaqueros.

In all, 21 special needs children and their families were able to go fishing with volunteers. In most cases, the fish weren't biting, but it was a fun day for all capped with a free barbecue lunch and awards ceremony where the kids were all handed plaques with their pictures on them.

Volunteer anglers took the kids and their families out on rental boats or fished from the boat pier.

Once again, the Angry Anglers fishing club were the main sponsors of the event.

This was the ninth time the District has hosted C.A.S.T.

Here is a complete list of sponsors:

  • Angry Anglers
  • Contra Costa Water District
  • Operation Junk
  • Lesher Foundation
  • Lew’s
  • Academy Sports + Outdoors
  • Flambeau Outdoors
  • C.A.S.T for Kids Foundation

During the event, the Tri-Valley Quarter Midgets Association, a local auto racing club, donated money for next year's C.A.S.T. event.
